DONKEY BLOOD VALUES
When blood is
drawn for a donkey, the results will usually be based on horse values.
Unfortunately donkeys & even ponies generally have different normal
readings than horses. Every time
I’ve had a blood test done on a donkey I’ve been told they are anemic &
need to be given Red Cell or some other blood builder.
Donkey numbers for red blood cells are normally lower than horses or
ponies.
Below is a spreadsheet with information from The Donkey Sanctuary in Devon,
England. Print it out & keep it handy, in case you need it someday.
